Learn how to build solar panels from scratch
By greanearth83
In order to learn how to build a solar panel from scratch, you will need to learn about the essential components and materials you will need to build a solar panel from scratch. Along with this information you will need to have an understanding of how solar energy works.
If your plan is to just wing it then you are in danger of an epic failure or even worse electrocuting yourself or some one you love. With electricity Ignorance is not bliss. So if you truly plan to build solar panels from scratch you had best know what you are doing. I will help you to get a basic understanding of how solar energy works and also of the basic components involved in a built from scratch solar power system.
An over view of how solar energy works
In direct sunlight there is approximately 1,000 wats of potential energy per minute per square meter. A solar cell is designed to capture and convert this light into energy through a process called photovoltaics. A photovoltaic cell is made of two layers of semiconductors the top layer absorbs the light and this absorbed energy knocks electrons loose which are pushed into the other semiconductor causing a current. Alone a single solar cell doesn't produce much power or current. But when hooked together in a series these cells push out a lot of electricity.
Where does the power go?
Well when the power is generated it flows our of the cells and is then either dumped into the ground or a battery storage cell. Solar energy needs to be stored if it will be of any use. Because without a light source the energy will not flow. So if you want to have The benefits of solar energy at night or in stormy weather you had better have a way to store it. Once the energy is stored there are two components that are needed to allow the system to function safely. First is a battery charge controller. The charge controller monitors the battery charge level so that the batteries are not over charged and explode. When they are all charged up the charge controller then dumps the excess back into the ground or into a grid tie in.
The Power inverter.
You will need a power inverter to make your solar power system do anything useful in your home. Batteries push out DC energy. All modern home electrical equipment uses AC current. The power inverter is what will take the DC power from your battery bank and convert it into AC power for home use.
Building solar panels from scratch is simple and completely do able. If you have the time and patience to learn how to do it. It is also a cheap and effective alternative to buying a commercially manufactured solar array.
If you know where to get the parts and equipment to build the parts cheaply then you will be looking at spending less than $200 to get your home made solar system up and running.
So if you think you have what it takes to build your own solar panels from scratch then by all means have at it and save some serious money while you do it. Not to mention the benefits you will get from having a lower power bill at the same time. Your system will pay for its self in less than a few months. But please I urge you to get your hands on a qualified and proper set of instructions that will help you to build your solar panels from scratch without risking your home or safety. As far as technical knowledge goes, any one can do it. The concepts are fairly simple but i do strongly recommend purchasing a book or guide to teach you how to wire everything together. If you were to say wire it in to the charging system wrongly you would risk the batteries exploding or a fire. But with the right information it is extremely simple and easy to set up. If you would like to find out how to get the information you need click the link in the last paragraph of this hub and it will take you to my home page where you can get all the information you need.
Yeah, it's going to be something spectacular. And i also love how efficient solar panels are becoming, including the ultra thin, flexible solar panels. I will passion for solar power that they are the answer. In reality, our energy is a variety of power in the sun, such as oil.
I would like to start building my own solar panel for my home. Where do I begin?
Thanks

Sounds really good. How much technical knowledge do you need to build one?
