Expensive Solar energy

Between the years 2007-2008 the total sales of solar cells and modules almost gives a doubled. This is greatly in part to the governments renewable energy tax credit program which gives a return of 30% of the total cost of the system. Growing awareness of the benefits of renewable energy is also driving the massive growth of the green energy industry. Hybrid cars are becoming the norm and clean living is fast becoming a fad.

I say fad because people are jumping onto the band wagon without a real awareness of the reason. The economy is low and people want to save money. Good reason but my question is, what happens when the economy turns around? Will this new green movement go up in smoke? I hope not because the impact that it is starting to have is taking us collectively in the right direction. People are beginning to wake up to our impact on the world around us and the idea that we are above the rules of nature is beginning to change.

One issue that is beginning to emerge follows the simple principles of supply and demand. Where there is a want or need then the supply is limited and the price tends to raise. Where there are profits to be made then there are people to be taken advantage of.
It used to be that installing a new solar system would pay for itsself within a year. Well now a days a good solar installation might run you in the ball park of $20,000. I dont think you spend $20,000 a year on electricity. Well not unless you live in Bill Gates house. So even if you eliminate your homes energy bill with your solar system you wont get a return on your investment for at least a year. Realistically though it will be a few years.

Many people are resorting to Building their own solar equipment. The reasons for that are common sense. First its cheaper. The lower down you go on the supply chain the cheaper things become. A single solar cell is dirt cheap. Wiring them together and mounting the panels is simple. But when t comes to building the battery bank and the charge controllers that's a bit more complicated. Still not an imposable task though. Saving your self money and saving the planet is worth the effort though and if you are willing to make the investment in a good guide to walk you through the process the entire project becomes as simple as a game of connect the dots. So i raise the question to you, why buy a commercial system when you can build the exact same thing for a fraction of the cost with your own two hands? So if your solution is renewable energy then you should seriously understand the benefits of building your own system. Take a look atGreenlivings.biz to Learn How to Build Solar Panels From Scratch for so much cheaper than you could dream of buying one.
